Arthritis Services for Pets

Like humans, your furry friends can suffer from arthritis. Arthritis is chronic joint pain and stiffness. Unlike humans, your pets cannot vocalize where the pain is and they rely on you for help. Your loyal companion having arthritis does not have to mean a life of constant pain. Our team is here to help. At Elmwood Veterinary Hospital, we provide treatment through pain management medications, holistic therapy or surgery. You can be confident that we will have your pet back on their feet in no time.

How does my pet develop arthritis?

Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis that pets suffer from. Osteoarthritis comes from the wearing out of the cartilage between the joints. This causes the joints to rub against each other and can be painful for your pet. Arthritis is very common in pets with joint injuries, infections or inflammatory diseases, older pets are also prone to arthritis.

What are signs that my pet may have arthritis?

As the condition advances there will be a difference in your pet’s behaviour. Here’s what you should look out for:

  • Moving stiffly
